Amnesty International Report 2015/16 – Ethiopia Members and leaders of opposition parties as well as protesters were extrajudicially executed. General elections took place in May against a backdrop of restrictions on civil society, the media and the political opposition, including excessive use of force against peaceful demonstrators, the disruption of opposition campaigns, and the harassment of election observers from the opposition. The police and the military conducted mass arrests of protesters, journalists and opposition party members as part of a crackdown on protests in the Oromia region. Local militia in Oromia region kill members of Agazi forces in retaliation for the killing of peaceful protesters ESAT News (February 15, 2016) The protest in the Oromia region of Ethiopia that is well into its third month has gotten even bloodier today as local militia in West Arsi killed 11 members of the Agazi forces (special kill squads of the regime) in retaliation for the killing of two protesters, according to the Oromo Media Network. OMN’s report was not verified by o ther sources but information obtained by ESAT earlier in the day revealed 2 federal police members and 7 protesters with gunshot wounds were admitted to the hospital. Today’s carnage was sparked when Agazi forces shot into a bus full of weeding goers who were playing a popular song among protesters which the forces requested to be turned down. Public Schools were closed and traffic was light. in Ethiopia, monkeys are known for being smart and people who are "smart" are often refereed to as "smart as monkey" or "Bilt Endetotit". <p> Ethiopian activists who braved the cold and snowy weather were also smart like the monkey. The people of Guji, South Ethiopia, demand MIDROC Gold out of their land Police arrest over a hundred protesters (ESAT News) — People in Guji Zone, an area in south Ethiopia known for its rich mineral wealth are demanding MIDROC Gold, a mining company owned by Ethiopian born Saudi tycoon, Mohammed Al Amoudi, to leave their land. Elders from the Guji community who spoke to ESAT on the phone said they are demanding that MIDROC Gold which has been looting their precious resource for the last 25 years should leave their land as it had done nothing to benefit the local community.   Protesters are staging a rally day and night in an area locally known as Udo Shakiso Ukuto and it would continue till their demands are met, the elders told ESAT. The elders said the people are demanding for their rights be respected and for the release of those detained by the regime. The Federal police meanwhile arrested over one hundred protesters, according to the elders.

የወልቃይት ባህልና ማንነት — መልስ ለአቶ ሃይሉ የሺወንድም (ከጎሹ ገብሩ) የወልቃይት ባህልና የማንነት ጥያቄ በሚል ባለ ስምንት ገፅ መጣጥፍ ጥር 6 2016 በኢትዮሚድያ ድህረ ገጽ የወጣው ጽህፍ ደግሜ ደጋግሜ አንብቤዋለሁ። ወንድሜ ኃይሉና እኔ ተወልደን ያደግነው ተ . ሐ . ህ . ት በምትባል ከትግራይ አብራክ የተፈጠረች አረመኔ የፋሽሽቶች ጥርቅም ከአያት ቅድመ አያቶቻችን ይዘነው የኖርነውን ባድማችን ቀምታ ወገኖቻችን በመግደልና በማባረር ዘር አልባ ባስቀረችዉ በወልቃይት ጠገዴ አካባቢ ስንሆን ሁለታችንም የሚያስተሳስረን የዝምድና ሰንሰልት አለን ። ለተወሰነ አመትም በቅርበት አብረን በጎንደር ከተማ ስንኖር በመከባበርና በመደጋገፍ ጥሩ ጊዜ አሳልፈናል አቶ ኃይሉ ከአዲስ አበባ ዩንቨርሲቲ ተሞክሮን ለማዳበር (ሰርቪስ ትሬኒንግ) በአስተማሪነት ተመድበው እኔም የሁለተኛ ደረጃ ተማሪ ሆኜ ነው። በዛን ወቅት ወንድም ኃይሉ በእዉቀት የበሰሉና በተማሪዎች ንቅናቄም ዋና ተዋናኝ እንደነበሩ ብዙ ምልክቶች አይ ነበር። እኔም በወቅቱ ፖለቲካዊ አስተሳሰቤ ብስለት ያልነበረው፤በአገር ወዳድነትና በስሜት የምጋልብ ነበርኩ። አኔና አቶ ኃይሉ የሺወንድም ከ 1969 ዓ.ም ጀምሮ ለብዙ ዓመታት ተለያይትን ከቆየን በኋላ በ2006 ዓ.ም  ኖርወይ እያሉ በተሌፎን ኮንፈረንስ ተገናኝተን በወቅታዊው የአካባቢያችን ችግር ለተወሰን ግዜ ጠለቅ ያለ ዉይይት ስናደርግ ወልቃይትን አስመልክቶ የነበራቸው አመለካከት ተሐህት ቦታችን ለቃ መውጣት አለበት ደንበራችን ተከዜ ነው የሚል አቋም ነበር ሲያስተጋቡት የነበረው። አሁን ያጋጠማቸው እንቅፋት ትክክለኛ መንስኤው ባላውቅም ምክንያት ይሆናል ብዬ የገመትኩት በስልጣን እየባለጉ ባሉት ስጋ ዘመዶቻቸው ተፅእኖ ብየ እንዳልል ወንድም ኃይሉ
